GO AWAY DON'T BOTHER ME
(Maphis - Collins - Collins)
THE COLLINS KIDS (Columbia 40824, 1957)

There's a little boy with an old guitar, down the street from me
With a butch haircut and dungarees, he's cute as he can be
He sits around all day long with his guitar on his knee
And when I ask him to come out, here's what he says to me

Go away don't bother me, can't you see I'm busy now
I'd rather play on my guitar, I don't like the girls no how
But I must admit you're pretty cute
And you got lot on the ball
But I'd rather play on my guitar, don't wanna be bothered at all

The other day I dressed real cute in my mama's pretty dress
With het high heel shoes and one of her hats
He wasn't even impressed
He looked at me real funny with a twinkle in his eye
I said let's play we're grown-ups and this was his reply

Go away don't bother me, can't you see I'm busy now
I'd rather play on my guitar, I don't like the girls no how
But I must admit you're pretty cute
And you got lot on the ball
But I'd rather play on my guitar, don't wanna be bothered at all

So now I got a guitar and I'm learning how to play
And I must admit it's a lot of fun to pass the time away
And when I go to his house he doesn't run me out
He waves at me with a great big smile and you can hear him shout

Come on in and play with me, bring your guitar along
We'll pick a tune together and sing a little song
Gosh I think you're super and you got lot on the ball
So come on in and play with me, you ain't no bother at all
