This monkey business's been goin' on
I called my gal on the telephone

The telephone ring, she said: "Hello"
I said: "Ain't anybody there? And she said: "No!"

Then I heard a big foot hit the floor
"Who's on that phone?", I heard it roar

(Monkey business goin' on)

Now, I hung up that telephone
And I grabbed a coat and I grabbed a comb

Well I grabbed my comb and I combed my hair
I said: Phooey! I'm going all over there!

Well, I headed straight for my girlfriend's house
Stepped up to the door, as quiet as a mouse

I opened the door and I walked in
And I caught that big ape unattended

(Monkey business goin' on)

In about ten seconds I hit the floor
And that big ape walked out the door

My girlfriend said: "I'm sorry hun"
'Cos I now I see that I doggone done

Well, I love that girl that little bout
Sure cut that monkey business out
